AXIS WORKPLACE INVESTIGATIONS

Devoted exclusively to impartial investigations into sensitive matters that require immediate action and substantive expertise.

PRIVATE

Axis Investigations handles sensitive, high-profile investigations with the potential for significant financial, legal, or public relations exposure. Serious workplace allegations require employers to conduct swift, thorough, and unbiased investigations. While many investigations may be handled internally, allegations against high level executives, board members, investors, public figures, etc. require involvement of external investigators to thwart any claims of bias in potential litigation.

PUBLIC

Axis Investigations handles investigations on behalf of public entities, which may trigger unique issues such as constitutional protections for employees and elected officials, union contracts for employees, and special rights for public safety officers and firefighters.  Axis handles investigations for public agencies at the state and local level and can assist municipalities, public transportation agencies, water districts, and more in their workplace disputes

NON-PROFIT

Axis Investigations is well-versed in the complexities of Title IX and complaints raised in educational settings, at large. Axis Investigations also understands the whistleblower concerns that non-profits face. Axis Investigations can assist educational institutions and non-profits take the proper steps to investigate complaints of alleged fraud, harassment, assault, violence, discrimination, or hostile workplace by colleagues or students.

Arti L. Bhimani founded Axis Workplace Investigations as a division of Bhimani Law because her expertise in employment legal issues and background in race relations, intersectionality, and trauma-informed best practices led her to workplace investigations. Arti leverages nearly twenty years of experience litigating employment and other business cases in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies for fortune 500 companies, public entities, and non-profit organizations, to provide her clients with unparalleled expertise in navigating workplace conflicts before they escalate.

Prior to forming Bhimani Law, Arti worked at large, multinational law firms and, recently, served as Deputy General Counsel for a leading global healthcare provider that employs over 2,000 employees in over 30 states and 20 countries. In that role, Arti oversaw all employment complaints and litigation, conducted countless internal investigations, and retained external investigators, where necessary. Arti also worked for a law firm that focused exclusively on representing public entities on employment matters. Given the breadth and depth of her experience handling employment disputes in-house and as outside counsel, Arti is uniquely situated to understand how best to utilize client resources to conduct workplace investigations efficiently and effectively.

Arti approaches every investigation by first understanding her client’s workplace and the complaint being investigated. She then works with the client to develop an investigation plan for gathering evidence and conducting interviews. At all times, an evidence-based approach is taken that respects and values the input of the various individuals to ensure that all pertinent information is gathered to generate a thorough, impartial, and well-reasoned report. Arti is trained to investigate Title IX misconduct claims for educational institutions and can also handle complaints against peace officers and firefighters.

In addition to handling workplace investigations, Arti has overseen national and international litigation and supervised the work of over 50 law firms, and personally litigated matters involving, among other things, employment discrimination, harassment, wage and hour claims, ethics issues, fraud, assault, sexual misconduct, hostile workplace, and other employment-based claims. Arti has also argued in state appellate courts in California and Ohio, and appeared before the California Supreme Court.

Arti earned her J.D. from UCLA School of Law in 2004 and is a graduate of Northwestern University, where she earned a B.A. with honors in 1998. Arti is a member of the Association for Workplace Investigators, the California Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, South Asian Bar Association, and is recognized as a Super Lawyer.
